LUDWIG JEKELS (1867-1954)
Ludwig Jekels was born in what is now the Ukraine, and studied medicine in Vienna. He had some analytic experience with Sigmund Freud, and became a member of the Vienna Psychoanalytic Society in 1910. With the collaboration of Otto Fenichel, he promoted the development of the Swedish-Finnish Psychoanalytic Association in 1934. Forced to immigrate to the USA to escape Nazism in 1938, he was an honorary member of the New York Psychoanalytic Society. His “Selected Papers” were published in 1952.
